linux logical standby of a solaris production database

Can this be accomplished?

I have tried following some steps in an oracle white paper for setting up the
logical standby and im getting some errors that lead me to believe it is a
cross platform issue.

What i have done so far:

Created a test database on solaris 8 in oracle 9i
execute dbms_logstdby.build on the solaris db
create a database on a linux box in oracle 9i
copied the log files over that i created on solaris db
typed this on the linux db
alter database start logical standby apply initial;
alter database start logical standby apply initial
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-16101 (See ORA-16101.ora-code.com): a valid start SCN could not be found

I heard this could be done from the dba rumour mill, but whats the real deal?

Thanks,
Kyle
